The Role and Department

General Assistants are responsible for supporting a professional, responsive and efficient catering service for students, staff and visitors, ensuring that food production is presented, served, replenished to an exceptional standard and in line with standard operating procedures. The post holder will also assist with day to day cleaning of kitchen and catering equipment, receipt and storage of goods, checking and signing for deliveries.

Catering team members will be expected to adopt and promote a flexible approach to working, and to undertake any or all of the tasks outlined below regardless of their designated shift.

Specific Role Information

The post holder will be required to work any 5 days out of 7, which may include some evenings and weekends. Typical working hours are between 7am and 9:30pm.

Working in the catering team requires an element of physical manual handling, which can include lifting and transporting catering equipment.

The post holder will be required to work flexibly across all catering areas.

Your new company
As the sole agency supplier to the HM Prison Service for the provision of maintenance trades and support operatives. Hays is seeking to recruit a Full-Time Cleaner for HMP Holme Hiuse. This is an exciting opportunity to work within the prison service and can often lead to permanent opportunities.
The post is full-time (39 hours per week) *** ongoing temporary with opportunity to apply for permanent roles.
Hours worked: Monday - Thursday 07:30am - 16:00pm, Friday working 07:30am - 15:00pm with a 1-hour unpaid break. These hours may differ slightly with different projects and establishments.


Your new role
The main responsibility for this role is to be part of a cleaning team covering all staff and visitor areas of the prison. You will be responsible for:

• Cleaning office areas, gatehouse / entrance areas, corridors and visitor areas of the prison
• Working to prison standards using correct equipment
• Ensuring no security practices are breached within the prison.

Due to the challenging environment of the workplace, the ideal candidate will need to be level-headed, security conscious, be able to follow processes and procedures and understand why they are in place, be honest and have the confidence to report any suspicious activity that they see in the prison and be able to use their own initiative.


What you'll need to succeed
You must be able to pass a full prison security clearance (Hays and the MOJ are responsible for organising all security clearances)
You must hold a valid passport or Full Birth Certificate & Photo Driving Licence at your current address.
You must have proof of National Insurance AND proof of address dated in the past 3 months.

What you will do?
