As a Physical Scientist within the Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:

• Coordinates research on wetland processes that drive ecological and geomorphic change of estuaries and salt marshes and associated ecosystem services, including mitigation of coastal hazards.
• Leads teams of scientists and technicians in observational studies of wetland response to restoration.
• Designs and leads appropriate analytical programs for accomplishing research objectives.
• Analyzes geospatial and/or time-series data in estuaries and wetlands. Integrates expertise in wetland processes, including time-series analysis, numerical modeling, and/or geospatial synthesis.
• Prepares peer-reviewed journal articles, data products, and scientific reports discussing the results of multidisciplinary studies and their significance to the fields of coastal change hazards and wetlands evolution.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The primary purpose of this position is to provide field, laboratory, and data management support and leadership for a broad set of research activities on coastal and marine processes. The incumbent uses a broad range of field, laboratory, and data processing expertise to support multidisciplinary research that addresses biogeochemical and sediment transport issues in coastal ecosystems.

• Serves as Veterinary Medical Unit (VMU) Supervisor, overseeing the operations of all Veterans Affairs (VA) Boston animal facilities (Jamaica Plain and West Roxbury).
• Completely responsible for the management of the Veterinary Medical Unit (VMU), reporting to the Deputy Associate Chief of Staff (D-ACOS).
• There are approximately fifty (50) active protocols, and thirty (30) Principal Investigators utilize the Veterinary Medical Unit, using different species of animals for biomedical research studies in many scientific fields.
• Controls the animal population level by setting limitations, approving new animal purchases, and working with investigators to ensure population levels are consistent with the facility's ability to provide proper care.
• Ensures the proper transfer and transport of animals per regulations and guidelines.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Product Management is a global position leading a team of seasoned product managers responsible for the growth and profitability of the Integrated Analytical Solutions business line portfolio.  The Product Managers own the various fluidic product lines life cycle management and work cross-functionally in the development of high-performance fluidic components and sub-assemblies for the LC-MS market analytical and sample prep workflows.   

Responsibilities include team leadership, product portfolio strategy and day-to-day execution for our business.  This cross-functional role will work together with our Sales, Marketing, Engineering and Operations teams to support the business line. This position is an integral part of the business unit’s leadership team and requires leadership coaching and development of direct reports. 

A strong track record in product management, product life cycle management, strategic planning, roadmap design, pricing excellence, product development, customer relationship management, and outstanding team leadership skills is critical to success.  You will need to be a self-directed, highly motivated individual with strong business acumen as well as have technical understanding of life science markets. Domestic and international travel of up to 25% is required.

The Director of Product Management will drive sustained growth and profitability of the Integrated Analytical Solutions portfolio.  This is achieved by establishing best practices and processes for your direct reports, which includes, owning the global portfolio strategy and contributing to the business line strategic plan.  You will also lead activities associated with setting the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) including, reporting, and orders forecasting. 

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

• Lead, and develop a multi-disciplined product management including talent acquisition, training, and enablement for success. Responsible for the success of a high-performing business team through effective coaching and development.
• Provide product management leadership, from concept to commercialization to obsolescence. Develop long-range product strategies and guide fiscal planning for future positioning, growth, and evolution of the portfolio.  This includes identifying, establishing, and managing strategic relationships with customers, suppliers, and industry key opinion leaders. This role is ultimately responsible for revenue, margin, customer intimacy, and market share objectives.
• Champions successful product launch through voice of customer, requirement gathering, research and development, product value proposition, business case and commercialization. Work closely with cross-functional teams, for the ultimate customer and financial success of new product introductions (NPIs)
• Analyze and incorporate impact of key markets, technical trends, customer needs and competitive offerings for products in the analytical life sciences field. Develop differentiated product roadmaps, rank new product features and functionalities, and recommend investments to drive portfolio growth.
• Serve as a champion with internal cross-functional stakeholders and drive for synergies across business units and segments. Will maintain close interaction with commercial teams through training and active participation in the sales process, including customer visits, pricing tactics, and customer support.
• Work closely with Business Development to deepen business partnerships, and/or acquisition strategies to expand product portfolio.
• Ensure pricing framework enables sales success by determining price excellence approach with value offering, providing appropriate level of pricing/discounting, responding to competitive opportunities, and meeting profitability objectives.
• Develop and deliver go to market strategies, technical capability documents, educational content, product training, sales tools, and application specific targeting strategies to enable the sales team and define product level value proposition to enhance customer journey across all channels.
• Champion an “8020 for growth” culture to drive alignment across functions and disciplines in support of the customer. Manage the business based on customer needs utilizing pertinent metrics to measure business performance.
• Own product lifecycle management, portfolio strategy, voice of customer for prioritization & requirement gathering, defining the product vision, conducting market research and quarterly win/loss analysis to inform and drive the strategic roadmap for portfolio product line.
• Develop comprehensive product requirements based off voice of customer (VoC) and work cross functionally with strategic teams to generate business cases that aid in the justification and prioritization of new products.   

WHAT DO WE NEED?

• Bachelor’s degree required; A Master’s or PhD preferred. MBA strongly preferred.
• Experience in developing or commercializing products that serve the life sciences analytical end market is a plus.
• A minimum of 10+years of experience in strategic marketing and product management in life sciences.
• A minimum of 5+ years of people management and business leadership.
• Demonstrated capability in reading technology and market trends, and strategically planning future product opportunities.
• Team management of new business initiatives with experience leading, developing and growing successful businesses with highly technical products in the life science research and analytical markets preferred.

Abbott Vascular provides innovative, minimally invasive, and cost-effective products for treatment of vascular disease.

This position will be a R&D/Sustaining engineering position supporting the FFR and OCT hardware portion of our business.  Performs the layout, construction, and evaluation of a variety of prototype Printed Circuit Boards, fixtures, and tools.  Applies engineering and scientific principles to the evaluation and solution of technical problems.  Exercises technical judgment in planning, organizing, performing, coordinating and/or directing engineering work.  Performs engineering studies.  Remains abreast of and consults on technical advancements.  Identifies and routinely uses the most effective and cost-efficient practices to execute processes; continually evaluates their effectiveness and appropriateness.

What You’ll Work On

• Support R&D and sustaining activities around OCT and FFR manufacturing including end of life, supplier change requests, Global compliance standards, IFU/Label changes, support of regulatory submissions, corporate programs, literature review, and all supporting quality system elements

• Conduct evaluations, tests, and analyses related to feasibility and function

• The position will also support the following design and manufacturing elements:

• Relevant work experience in performing the layout construction, and evaluation of a variety of Printed Circuit Boards, knowledge of analog electronics, experience with fiber optics, or capital equipment experience is preferred.

• Ability to understand and comply with applicable FDA regulations and Company operating procedures, processes, policies and tasks preferred.

• Demonstrated personal computer skills, including spreadsheet, word processing, database management, and specialized applications.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Manage initial development/growth of clinical and translational research system infrastructure at Boston Medical Center. Initial responsibilities will include focus on Boston-HEALHS (Boston Health Equity & community-Aligned Learning Health System), a program funded by a P30 Center grant from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) and will include oversight of other grant funded staff in establishing a management structure for the three cores that make up the center.

Work closely with the Director of Clinical and Translational Research and Chief Scientific Officer to implement and oversee system-wide structures for support and coordination of research activities across a large academic safety-net institution. This will include developing/implementing two centralized cores: 1) a scientific methods core that will be developed in conjunction with Boston-HEALHS, 2) a scientific writing core.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Staff Management

• Responsible for effective personnel management including participating in hiring, training, directing, mentoring and instilling a commitment to quality and excellence. 
• Maintains effective and appropriate staffing by monitoring employee turnover, overtime, and absenteeism. Coordinates/maintains monthly schedule for department coverage.  Submit weekly timesheets. Tracks overtime, absenteeism, hours worked, leaves and vacation/sick time for the Department. 
• Monitors productivity and performance to identify and evaluate strengths and training opportunities; implements quality improvement efforts. Encourages growth and development.
• Conducts employee performance evaluations and disciplines when appropriate to include termination, with appropriate supportive documentation as per established institutional policy.

Operations Management

• Interacts with sponsors, including AHRQ and PCORI. Interfaces with IRB and drafts IRB protocols, amendments, continuing reviews, etc.
• Develops, interprets and implements standards, procedures, policies, and protocols for research studies and for the implementation of core services. Serves as the Center’s expert regarding policy and/or regulatory questions.
• Creates systems for intake of requests to use core services, processes to assign requests to the appropriate team member, and track metrics of throughput that can be used for continuous quality improvement.
• Ensures day-to-day activities of BMC cores are running smoothly and supports this efficiency and effectiveness. Creates and reports on metrics related to the Core’s efficiency and effectiveness

• Manage the financial obligations of BOSTON HEALHS (cash flow, balance projections, etc.). Monitor all grant expenditures and disbursements for adherence to budget guidelines and award notices.
• Participates in grant renewal processes. Prepare, administer, and ensure timely grant submissions.  Assist investigators in developing and preparing grant proposals, including drafting, editing, and preparing back-up data documentation for the submission.

Project Management

• Plan agenda and facilitate weekly project operational meetings and ensure that minutes are taken, edited, and distributed.
• Write, edit, and prepare manuscripts and presentations for publication of scientific results.
• Collaborate with research staff in writing content for the Research Matters newsletter.
• Prepare substantive aspects of research grant proposals, progress reports, and IRB applications, especially literature and database searches, and assist with conducting analyses for various other projects.

EDUCATION:

• Master’s degree required in a relevant field

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of five (preferably seven +) years of experience in managing a complex, multi-faceted program, including fiscal oversight.  Minimum of two years of personnel leadership experience.

Assists physicians and extenders in providing proper medical care for patients.  May assist as receptionist if working in a physician practice setting.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Rooms and interviews patients to obtain medical information and to measure their vital signs, weight, and height. Records information in the medical record. (40%)

Centerstone’s Research Institute Hybrid Internship: Florida

At Centerstone’s Research Institute (CRI), we conduct research to prevent and cure mental illness and addiction. We also work to translate research into meaningful clinical practices and implement research-based strategies in real-world settings, thereby reducing the research-to-practice gap. CRI’s workforce is interdisciplinary and comprised of Physicians, Psychologists, Dissemination and Implementation Scientists, Counselor Educators, Program Evaluators, Social Workers, Public Health Advisors, Biostatisticians, Clinical Transformation Specialists, Design Thinking Experts, and others. We collaborate with Academic Medical Schools, Universities, Statewide Mental Health and Public Health Departments, and Veteran-Serving Institutions in much of our work.  Centerstone’s Research Institute is a company of Centerstone, the nation’s largest nonprofit mental health company who provides community-based behavioral health care, substance-abuse treatment and intellectual and developmental disabilities services in Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee.

Our Interns would mostly be calling and working with clients to gather data about their experiences.  This internship will provide interns with data collection, data entry and interviewing experience along with the possibility of data analysis experience as well.  We will provide interns with a look into the world of evaluation and research.  We look forward to hearing from you!

Intern Location: Day-to-day duties will be hybrid; two days will be in the Bradenton, FL clinic. 

Intern will be based in Bradenton, Florida.  Technology equipment will be provided.

Intern Duties and Responsibilities

• Intern will work with evaluation team to conduct enrollment interviews with active clients following this procedure:

  • Contact eligible clients over the phone within seven (7) calendar days of attending their first qualifying appointment.

  • Obtain informed consent from client or caregiver.

  • Conduct required client-level service questionnaire through survey management software, if consent is provided.

  • Enter and maintain records in data management database.

• Intern will participate as an active team member in the implementation and maintenance of grant projects (e.g., provide ongoing information from client interviews for project improvement, etc.).

• Intern will work with clinical on days that they are working in the clinic to take vitals of clients; Intern is required to complete training before assisting clinical team with vital intake.

• Intern will complete enrollment interviews in person as needed at the clinic.

• Intern will participate in client and community engagement as needed; such as collecting data for needs assessment and enrolling clients into the community advisory committee.
