The Assistant Chemist/Lab Technician reports to the Lab Manager and is responsible for the below:

Responsibilities

Sample Preparation

• Receive and label all samples brought into the lab for accountability.
• Prepare samples from drying, crushing, splitting and pulverising.
• Mix fluxing reagents and load samples in furnace for the fire assay.
• Mix reagents for acid digestions.

Quality Control

Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting

• Report any apparatus or equipment which, to your knowledge, is not functioning correctly to the Lab manager.

Requirements:

Educational & Professional Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. A Master's degree or CPA qualification is strongly preferred.

Relevant Experience

• Minimum 5 years of proven experience as a Financial Controller in manufacturing industry (experience within precious metals / commodity trading is a plus).
• Strong understanding of the dynamics and challenges inherent in the precious metals market, including price fluctuations, supply chain complexity, and regulatory environments is an advantage.
• Proficient in financial forecasting, budgeting, and analysis.

This role is crucial in overseeing and managing all financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, and maintaining compliance with industry regulations and accounting standards.

Responsibilities

Financial Management and Reporting

• Oversee and manage the entire financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
• Prepare and analyse financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Develop and implement effective financial strategies, policies, and procedures to streamline operations and improve profitability.
• Conduct financial forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis to support strategic decision-making.
