GBUK has a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and highly motivated Sustainability & Facilities Officer to join our Head Office team near Selby.
Reporting to the Operations Director, the successful candidate will drive GBUK Group’s sustainability, environmental and net zero strategy and reporting, incorporating forward looking facilities management.
This broad role offers a unique opportunity to be responsible for an increasingly important area of strategic focus that will ensure sustainable medical devices enhance patient care.
The role would suit an experienced environmental & sustainability champion with previous regulation and reporting experience, who is keen to develop their skills in a fast-paced and rapidly growing business.
The main tasks and responsibilities of the role include:
Lead
· Lead the implementation of a new sustainability and environmental strategy
· Be a sustainability and environmental advocate and advisor that drives positive innovation and change across the Group
· Prepare reports, presentations, and proposals to the Management Board, Strategic Board, and other key stakeholders
Manage
· Execute initiatives to manage and reduce the Groups impact on the environment, such as renewable energy use, resource conservation, recycling, pollution reduction, waste elimination, transportation, education, and building design
· Lead carbon management and reduction reporting, ensuring annual data collection and monitoring of energy / fuel use and directing the implementation of the carbon management plan to ensure the transition to a low-carbon organization
· Ensure company policies and processes are in accordance with the Groups commitment to sustainability and environmental management
· Ensure compliance with ISO14001
Support
· Support all business functions to deliver and demonstrate progress against strategic objectives and performance indicators
· Assist the Commercial teams with sustainability and environmental requirements of UK and International tender submissions
· Assist the Product teams on raw material and packaging options
· Assist the Operational teams to ensure efficiency with shipping and how we distribute product globally
· Deliver sustainability training and awareness campaigns to internal staff and stakeholders
Facilities
· Oversee business facilities, energy usage and waste management
· Liaise with the Business Park facilities team on day-to-day property management, safety requirements and projects
Knowledge and qualifications required for this role:
Essential
· 2+years’ experience of Environmental / Energy Management Systems, including ISO14001
· Appropriate legislation, compliance knowledge and familiarity with energy technologies
· Experience in writing environmental and sustainability policies, procedures and reports
· Ability to drive the change process and manage stakeholders
Desirable
· Degree or post graduate degree in a related energy management / sustainability subject
Experience of operating under:
· Medical Device Quality Management Systems (ISO13485)
· NHS Net Zero
· Ecovadis
· ESOS
· Plastic Packaging Tax
· Wastepack / WEE
· H&S and Fire Safety regulations

· Excellent communication and management skills
· Strong organisational skills, with the ability to multi-task and demonstrate good judgment in decision-making
