About the Role
As our Construction Lawyer, you’ll be at the forefront of legal support for SSI Services, OnSite and South Staffs Water,
overseeing a variety of high-stakes construction projects. You’ll be responsible for providing legal guidance on both contentious
and non-contentious construction matters, from reviewing and drafting contracts to advising on risk. Additionally, you’ll play a
key role in shaping our legal practices, creating policies to support bid and commercial teams, and engaging with stakeholders at
all levels.
Key responsibilities include:
* Advising on and drafting contracts, collateral warranties, NDAs, parent company guarantees, and framework agreements
* Supporting commercial risk assessments and drafting board papers at various project stages
* Working with standard construction contracts (JCT, NEC, FIDIC) as well as bespoke agreements
* Managing legal disputes and providing litigation support when necessary
* Implementing procedures to enhance compliance and risk management
What You’ll Need
* Circa 3-5 years PQE, qualified solicitor in England and Wales
* Proven experience in construction law, including contract drafting, risk review, and compliance support
* Knowledge of standard construction forms (JCT, NEC, FIDIC) and ability to handle bespoke client contracts
* Litigation experience (advantageous)- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to handle multiple complex legal matters
simultaneously
* High integrity, discretion, and a proactive, hands-on approach to legal challenges
* Excellent communication and collaborative skills for working across internal and external stakeholders
