Job summary

The Post-holder will provide a specialist psychological consultation, assessment and therapy service to Leicestershire-based Community Mental Health Teams. The post-holder will offer advice and consultation on patient's psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the Trust policies, procedures and service priorities. The post holder will participate fully in multidisciplinary clinical teams, often leading them, in providing a service to their patients. The Post-holder will deploy knowledge and skills in general aspects of clinical psychology and, in particular, the assessment and treatment of patients who are being managed within the Leicestershire-based Community Mental Health Teams. The Post-holder will be capable of conducting projects, working independently, with only general briefings and working collaboratively with senior managers.

Main duties and Responsibilities

1. To provide specialist risk assessment, psychological assessment, formulation and intervention of clients referred to the team.

2. To provide specialist psychological advice, guidance, training and consultation to others across a wide range of agencies and settings where appropriate.

3. To work as an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team.

4. Participate in partnership working with individuals, groups, communities and agencies.

5. Establish and maintain effective communication with various individuals and groups on complex and potentially stressful topics in a range of situations.

6. Has a delegated responsibility to manage the workload of Psychologists on lower Page 2 of 16 bandings, including assistant and trainee Psychologists, within the framework of team policies and procedures.

7. To utilise, theory, established evidence-based literature and research to support evidence based practice in individual work and with other team members.

8. To contribute to the team meetings and effective operation of the inpatient and community team.

9. Familiarity with the principals of child protection procedures and legislation in relation to the client group and mental health.

10. Develop own skills and knowledge and contribute to the development of others.

11. Promote best practice in health, safety and security.

12. Promote people's equality, diversity and rights.

13. Collect, collate and report both routine and complex data and information.

Requirements

• Honours degree in Psychology or with Psychology as a main subject
• Eligibility for Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS)
• Doctoral (DPsych) or recognised and approved equivalent qualification in Clinical Psychology
• Registered as a qualified Clinical Psychologist with the UK Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)
• Computer, IT and internet skills
• Doctoral level of knowledge of Clinical Psychology including knowledge of Lifespan Developmental Psychology, models of psychopathology, psychometrics and neuropsychology as well as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and two or more distinct psychological therapies to at least practitioner level.

Job Summary

• To work as an autonomous clinician providing Art Psychotherapy assessments and treatment to children and young people with a range of psychological and emotional disorders.

• To act as a specialist in the field of Art Psychotherapy, providing consultation and education to Trust staff.

• To provide specialist support in all aspects of Art Psychotherapy to clients, carers and significant others.

• To provide Clinical Supervision and support to trainee Art Psychotherapists and other creative therapy staff if required.
