At Blackburn Endoscopy Unit, we provide a service that offers all types of Endoscopy for elective and emergency procedures for inpatients and outpatients. We offer all diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. We are a friendly, fast paced unit and offer bespoke training sessions alongside our induction programme.

The successful candidate will participate as an effective practitioner within a multi-disciplinary unit, demonstrating effective team work and providing good morale within the department and rotate through all clinical areas to meet service need and professional development.



1. Provide care in the clinical area as an effective member of the team.

2. Establish a safe working environment for patients and staff to ensure patient contact and dignity are not compromised.

3. Arrange the reception, admission, transfer and nurse led discharge of patients, assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of care within speciality.

4. Take responsibility for a group of patients and act as team leader where appropriate, co-ordinating the utilisation of staff/ Endoscopy lists.

5. Act as named nurse and room nurse in the unit, providing competent assistance during a range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including complex procedures requiring the use of PPE and lead protection gowns in Xray.

6. Carry out the decontamination process of endoscopes and have an awareness of general and specific infection control measures and related issues.

7. Demonstrate knowledge of Endoscopy equipment, the function and application of all endoscopes and systems, potential malfunctions and hazards of endoscopic equipment / substances and corrective action.

8. Maintain appropriate department documentation – e.g. profiles, care plans and electronic record.

9. Co-ordinate safe transfer and positioning of patients

10. Assist in the cleaning of clinical areas and equipment, ensuring that the area is clear of potential hazards




Develop professionally through self development – extending own knowledge through the N.M.C’s codes of professional conduct and participate in research and learning projects ongoing in the department.

Train Operations: Coordinating with Train Drivers and Operational Teams to ensure the smooth running of the train. You'll stick to schedules, keep an eye on signalling systems, and stay in touch with Control to keep the train on track.
Customer Assistance: Helping customer on an off the trains, checking tickets, providing travel information, and ensure a comfortable and safe trip. You’ll answer customer inquiries, aid vulnerable customers, deescalate conflict situations and maintain a friendly and welcoming atmosphere on board.
Safety, Security & Compliance: Enforcing safety regulations, adhering to safety critical door procedures, conducting safety inspections, and responding to emergencies or incidents. You will act as leaders in evacuations or other critical situations. You’ll be fully trained and regularly assessed on all safety critical competencies to ensure compliance.
Fare Collection: Collect fares, validate tickets, and ensure proper payment from customers. You’ll also monitor for ticket irregularities and address instances of fare evasion or unauthorised travel.
Communication and Coordination: Providing updates on delays or disruptions and relaying important information to customers.
Reporting: Maintaining accurate records of customer counts, ticket sales and other relevant information, as well as creating detailed and comprehensive reports on incidents, faults and delays.
Customer Service: Delivering exceptional customer service; interacting with customers in an empathetic, courteous and professional manner, addressing complaints or concerns, and creating a positive and enjoyable travel experience.
Technology Utilisation: Utilising provided technology including mobile phones, tablets and body worn cameras.

Currently live within a 45-minute car journey from the station you work from.
Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
Pass the RIS3452 Train Worker medical assessment, including drugs and alcohol screening.
Not have defective colour vision.
