You will contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures and services to continue to promote good outcomes for children and their families who experience residential child care. You will be part of the management team of a designated children’s house and will contribute to the development of the residential child care service as a whole in line with the Plan for North Lanarkshire Council, the Corporate Parenting Strategy and Improvement Plan and the Education & Families Improvement Plan.
We are looking for someone who is committed to involving children, young people and developing services and approaches around the needs of children and their families. You will lead practice to deliver improved positive outcomes for children and young people to help them realise their full potential, and support North Lanarkshire fulfil its commitment to keep The Promise.
An SVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent, which would enable registration with the SSSC along with extended experience in a management post in residential child care is essential including experience of service and staff management and in producing reports and assessments. You should also have a developed understanding of childcare procedures and practice in line with the Child’s Plan and Corporate Parenting Strategy and Improvement Plan.
We need someone who can demonstrate developed interpersonal skills with the ability to engage, actively listen, question, consult, challenge appropriately and has a direct commitment to improve outcomes for children and young people. You should also have clear understanding and empathy to the needs of Looked After and Care experienced children and young people.
You will be required to become a Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member prior to commencing in this role and you must be registered or eligible for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
This position is temporary for a period until 31/08/2025
