As this position is specifically for teaching and applied research needs of the Accounting division, candidates should have strong and relevant industry and academic experience. This experience should be demonstrated through teaching feedback from tertiary institutions, publicly available outputs (e.g., teaching blogs, webinars), by giving teaching demonstrations or similar evidence of teaching effectiveness. The Opportunity

The Accounting Officer will support the delivery of financial management information to the Management Accountants and front line budget holders. What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will need to be an experienced and self-sufficient auditor, with at least some management experience, who always takes care to lead on delivery of high quality audits to the highest standards of accuracy, on budget and within agreed deadlines, with appropriate support and challenge from the Head of Internal Audit. Requirements

This position has been classed as an anywhere worker role but has an expectation that the successful candidate will attend the office, in Chelmsford, 1 - 2 days per month, with the remaining time allowing for remote working if desired, in line with the organisation's need.

Interviews are likely to take place on the week commencing the 3rd June 2024 and will be conducted virtually using MS Teams.

This role will contribute to the delivery of a high performing, customer focused service, delivering all aspects of financial management information to both the members of the management accounting team and budget holders, ensuring quality of information is provided to stakeholders. The role supports the efficient running of the Finance Hub and works effectively to meet customer requirements by ensuring information is delivered efficiently within agreed timeframes.

It requires the provision of high quality advice, information, analysis and interpretation to finance colleagues to underpin effective decision making and meet financial governance requirements across the business.

Accountabilities

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

We are looking for a meticulous and highly organized Accounting Specialist with at least 3 years of full set accounting experience and exposure to the SaaS industry. Working with our SG and US accounting firms, he/she will be put in charge of the accounting for both our SG and US entities. This role requires very good English communication skills (written and verbal) in order to work effectively with external partners as well as the internal billing team. This role will report to the Head of Operations and work closely with our fractional CFO.

Work Scope (part-time 3-4 days per week)

• Book and file expense invoices according to cost centers.
• Support and liaise with US and SG accounting firms to ensure compliance and accuracy in books and monthly and annual consolidated management reports.
• Provide supporting documents for schedules and maintain accounting schedules.
• Manage depreciations.
• Amortize expenses.
• Reconcile bank accounts monthly.
• Cash Management : Monitor bank accounts for account balance, offline payments and fixed deposits renewal.
• Quarterly GST filing.
• Accounts Payable : Booking of online payments and preparing fund transfer for offline payments.
• Prepare quarterly intercompany cost splits and manage fixed deposit investments.
• Work with the internal billing team for invoice related matters.
• Retrieve financial reports for management and investors, ensuring timely and accurate information dissemination.
• Handle any other financial work as assigned by the Manager.
• Work scope will be expanded to take more responsibility if works full time.

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor degree in Accounting.
• At least 3 years for Bachelor degree holders, or 5 years for diploma holders, of full set accounting experience, preferably in the cloud-based SaaS industry.
• Familiarity with the Singapore accounting standards, including deferred revenue accounting. Experience with the US accounting standards is of advantage.
• Proactive, clear and efficient communication in English (written and verbal).
• Tech savvy, familiar with Quickbooks Online, Gmail, G-Suite and Microsoft Excel. Preference is given for strong working knowledge in Microsoft Excel functions such as pivot table and vlookup.
• Quick learner for new tools and platforms. Experience with Chargebee, Stripe and Paypal is of advantage.
• Positive attitude, independent, meticulous, efficient and highly organized, can multi-task and take initiatives to improve and automate existing processes.
