Supports the Nurse Manager (NM) with supervisory duties, responsibility and accountability for the 24/7 operation of their designated units. Assumes responsibility and is designated as Acting Nurse Manager during temporary absence of of Nurse Manager (NM) to ensure continuity of operations. Accountable for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, staff development, evaluation and individual staff performance. Functions as an educator, role model and supervisor providing leadership to the team. They influence care outcome by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based cutting-edge programs/processes.

Responsible of equipping staff with tools for culturally competent care, while promoting a culture of accountability for high-quality, cost-effective outcomes. They cultivate alliances across the care continuum, building trust through active listening, engagement, and emotional intelligence.
The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) for SCI & Rehab Unit contributes to the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence-based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care. Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards, aligns nursing/clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes, and participates in strategy planning and execution. Promotes an inclusive workplace by valuing diversity to achieve the organization vision and mission.
Maintains knowledge and ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, Directives (such as 1176), policies, and standard operating procedures (SOP). Demonstrates expertise in professional practice using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) with improved evidence-based and/or data-driven outcomes beyond the immediate practice setting.
Communicates and collaborates as an effective leader of the inter-professional team, and provide initiatives to improve Veteran/patient experience, satisfaction and/or safety beyond the immediate practice setting.
The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) SCI & Rehab Unit is accountable to the Nurse Manager (NM)/designee of the SCI & Rehab Unit, the Chief Nurse of Surgery & Rehabilitation, the Deputy Associate Director for Patient Care Services and ultimately, to the Associate Director of Patient Care Services (ADPCS).
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm. May require rotating shifts, weekends and holidays.
