Permanent, full time (37.5 hours per week), Monday to Friday. Part time or job share will be considered.
Pay £12.00 ph, £23,464 pa (pro rata for part time) and great benefits including Health Cash Plan

We have a fabulous job opportunity for a Handy Person to join our awesome Hampshire West Mental Health Supported Accommodation Service. We are the multi skilled hands-on practical support that helps our colleagues deliver services to our customers. As a business we support customers with differing support needs, including mental health, in their journey towards independence, in a wide range of self contained and shared properties and grounds. As our handy person you’ll spend much of your time working across our different properties in Hampshire West - in Andover, Eastleigh, Hythe, Lymington and Winchester.
Typical day as a Handy Person
- Doing minor or emergency repairs, decorative touches or even cleaning in our properties or communal areas
- Doing things like hanging curtain poles, moving furniture, touching up paints, changing tap washers, unblocking sinks, mowing lawns, and clearing grounds or properties.
- Carrying out regular Fire and Health & Safety checks
- Transporting furniture and other items between our properties
- Recycling and disposing of waste items at official sites (we will provide you with Homegroup's licence details for this).
- Working with colleagues, commercial partners and customers throughout your day.
- Liaising with our Customer Service Centre and external contractors to report repairs outside of your remit and chase up outstanding works.

About You
- A team player with a can-do attitude and enthusiasm, but also able to work autonomously and independently.
- You’re multi skilled with general maintenance skills, know a bit about general repairs, carpentry, basic plumbing and can wield a broom or paint brush!
- Comfortable working and communicating with people from all walks of life
- It would be amazing if you have been a handy person in a previous job, but it’s not a deal breaker.
- Able to use technology for communicating with colleagues and others, managing your calendar, completing reports and documents, accessing and updating property information databases.
- To get from A to B and carry out your role, you’ll be provided with a company transit-style van, so you will need a current full standard driving licence that includes Category B vehicles. The great news is that we’ll pay for your business fuel and are open to flexible conversations about where you store the vehicle overnight and at weekends.
Due to limits on our current certificates of sponsorship, we are not able to offer sponsorship to external candidates for this role. This remains under regular review.

Job details
- You will (mostly) work Monday to Friday. On weekdays our colleagues are usually on site between the hours of 9am and 7pm. We are flexible and as long as we can meet our customers need, we can flex your work patterns and start and finish times to suit both you and the situation.
- Based in our Hampshire West service you’ll spend your time travelling around the properties in our patch, predominantly in Andover, Eastleigh, Hythe, Lymington and Winchester.
- We have a monthly team meeting attended by all our Hampshire West colleagues which is held at different properties across the patch.
- Occasionally travel outside of our patch / service to work on a property that you may not have worked on before, or when we have an all hands on deck situation.
- You’ll need a Standard DBS check done and we pay for that.
