About the department

The successful candidate will work for the department of the Centre for Forensic Medicine and Dentistry, within a Police Mortuary in Dundee alongside two experienced APT staff, a team of two Forensic Pathologist Consultants, administrative and laboratory staff and ad hoc attendance of medical students and Forensic Pathology trainees. Staff are employed by the University of Dundee and as such, involvement with training and teaching of students will be expected as we integrate with other disciplines to include forensic odontology, anthropology and medicine. This mortuary covers the Tayside region undertaking on average 550-600 cases per annum on behalf of the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service when dealing with the investigation into sudden and unexpected deaths in this region.

Roles & Responsibilities

In this role initially, the successful candidate will enter a traineeship and gain experience on the job to allow them to undertake the level 3 and 4 diploma qualification in health sciences (distance learning) which is a requirement of this position.

RSPH | Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Science (Anatomical Pathology Technology)

Day to day activities involve preparation of the deceased for post mortem examination and body reconstruction, moving and handling of deceased persons, assisting in the examinations and in the preparation of body tissues and fluids for histological, toxicological, genetic and microbiological analysis and general mortuary duties (cleaning and stock take of clinical areas).

This is a physically demanding job as it requires the moving and handling of deceased persons and equipment.

APT staff are required to attend for out of hours cases on an ad hoc basis for specific time sensitive cases.

A successful candidate must be able to work well as part of a multidisciplinary team and engage with teaching and training of students.

At Cavendish Nuclear we're working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Senior EC&I Designer, at either of our Warrington or Preston sites.

The role

As a Senior EC&I Designer you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. The Senior Designer provides support and technical guidance for a team of designers. The role will assure the quality of output to the required standards consistent with whole lifecycle from concept to in service support.

Day-to-day, you'll provide specialist technical advice and guidance to other designers, providing design governance for technical standards for a team. You'll work with a high degree of technical autonomy and promote effective co-operation across Design and other functional teams.

• Allocate discipline tasks to allocated team of Designers, check team drawing outputs, and ensure inter discipline coordination in accordance with company and regulatory standards
• Assist in effective management of the customer, including liaison and relationship development with existing and new customers, to aid the development of business, resolution of technical and delivery issues, and such that the customer is fully briefed and informed of progress
• Contribute to the preparation/production of drawings in support of basic, detail and production design in line with recognised ISO standards and to the required; time, cost and quality requirements.
• Assist in the resolution of Production & Technical Queries & development of discipline solutions for the team in relation to manufacturing & installation issues
• Develop innovative design solutions, and fulfil Design Lead responsibilities as assigned for multi discipline low risk projects
• Maintain awareness of developments within the industry, particularly for techniques & tools, physical integration, bill of material controls & management of design maturity

This role is full time OR part time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements

Essential experience of the Senior EC&I Designer

• Experience in a detailed design environment
• Good knowledge of CAD tools
• Knowledge of General Engineering Drawing Practice

Qualifications for the Senior EC&I Designer

• HNC/HND minimum in a relevant discipline OR equivalent academic qualification

We are looking for a Grounds Maintenance Charge Hand (also known as a Landscape Technician Charge Hand) to be responsible for the maintenance of communal grounds including grass cutting, trimming hedges and weeding flower beds. It will be your role to provide supervisory support to the wider team and ensure the grounds look presentable for any visitors.

The role of Grounds Maintenance Chargehand will include:

- Provide supervisory support in keeping estates well maintained and clean
- Use equipment and materials in a safe manner as instructed and in accordance with risk assessment and the manufacturer’s guidance
- Carry out all hazardous tasks such as spraying, in accordance with supplier guidelines ensuring relevant records are maintained to comply with health and safety and legal requirements
- Ensure tools and equipment are maintained in good condition and continue to be suitable for required tasks
- Respond positively to complaints and breakdowns in service delivery to meet customer expectations


Skills and experiences:

- A pesticide application certificate PA1 – PA6 or equivalent
- NVQ3 or equivalent in Horticulture or similar discipline is desirable
- Recent experience of working within a similar role where operating gardening machinery is essential
- Some experience of supervising others
- This role will involve driving on company business. In order to drive a company vehicle, drivers must hold a full valid UK driving licence
