You will:

• be part of the team and support the preparation efforts to ensure that where possible we can resolve situations where views differ.
• provide support to the Principal Officer (Conflict Resolutions and Tribunals).
• you will collate the required information in preparation for resolving disagreements and/or in preparation for mediation.

A rare opportunity has arisen across Staffordshire Families First for a full time Social Worker within the Children’s Disability Service. This post is based in Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire.

We have 4 Children’s Disability teams across the county, and they provide specialist services for children and young people with complex disabilities. These are small teams of highly dedicated Social Workers who support each other in the day to day task of ensuring we reach the best outcomes for our Disabled children in a timely manner, enabling them to live their lives to the full. We also are supported by a team of skilled Family Support Workers who assist in facilitating behaviour management work and undertaking direct work.

As a qualified Social Worker, you will be based within a small team of between 7/8 Social Workers. You will be expected to be a team player. The ability to engage and communicate with disabled children is essential and the successful applicant will be committed to ensuring the children on their case load receive the best quality service.

In Staffordshire, we have recently embarked upon the journey of embedding a new practice model, restorative practice. We want to improve the lives of all children and young people, using a whole system approach enabling children to be happy, healthy and safe and supporting families to enable children to remain at home wherever possible. Restorative approaches are widely accepted as a highly effective way of achieving better outcomes for children, young people and their families.

Are you passionate about making a difference to children's lives who are placed in local authority foster care? As a Family Time Worker, you’ll play a critical role in supporting children in understanding their birth identity and supervising their time with birth parents.

We’re looking for people to join us with the skills to encourage and help maintain positive relationships between children and parents. We work with very vulnerable children so we must ensure we maintain professional relationships whilst managing complex family needs and behaviours.

The Family Time Workers play a vital role in supporting families for them to spend quality time together. Our aim during family time is to promote a positive and meaningful time for children with their family. This could include offering support, guidance, and parenting advice or modelling positive interaction and behaviours. We also support children getting to and from school and family time in various locations. Our family time workers are required to transport the children around the county and further afield.

We currently have a full time, permanent 37 hours per week position. Flexibility is required as some family times involve working outside of contracted working hours, including evenings and weekends.

As a Family Time Worker, you will be required:

• To facilitate therapeutic family time between children and their parents or other family members.
• To coordinate arrangements for family time for children and their parents or other family members as directed by court.
• Transport children and young people to attend family time.
• To provide parenting support and guidance during family time.
• To support the completion of accurate documentation, reports, and records in relation to children, young people, and families.
• To be available outside of traditional working patterns including evenings and weekends to provide support to children, families, and carers when it is needed.

As well as a passion for helping and supporting children and their families, you’ll need to have:

• A minimum NVQ 3 in working with children and families or equivalent experience of working with children and families.
• Experience of direct work with children, their families, and carers in a statutory or voluntary agency which provides services to vulnerable children and their families.
• Experience in the use of IT including Microsoft packages
• An understanding of child development and the effect of stress and trauma on child development.
• An understanding of the key pieces of policies, guidance, and legislation which govern children’s social care.
• Have unrestricted use of a car and a driving licence.

Main Responsibilities

You will play a key role in the Cash Receipting Team, whose role centres around the timely receipting of cash from various payment methods and includes:

• Providing specialist support and advice to directorate Debt Recovery Teams, SCC services and other bodies such as academies.

• Experience of producing financial reconciliations.

The Planning Team at Staffordshire County Council plays a crucial role in managing planning applications for new developments, including quarries, waste sites, and County Council projects (such as schools and roads). The Transport Operations and Future Mobility team are looking for 2 full time term time and 1 part time term time School Travel Advisor to provide additional capacity to an existing team.

This is a diverse and exciting role, delivering active travel projects and marketing campaigns targeting parents, pupils and staff at schools.

Two main key priorities for the team over a two year period include School Streets and Walking Buses. These will be the main areas of work for these additional roles. Both areas of work will require intense engagement which will require a team of confident individuals.

The Active Travel Team work across Staffordshire wide with schools, businesses and in the community to deliver active travel projects. Our projects aim to increase active travel, provide training and raise awareness of the health and wellbeing benefits this can bring to individuals and the environment. Example projects include:

• Bikeability
• INTO Walking & Cycling
• Air Aware
• School Active Travel

You will engage with a variety of stakeholders, parents, school staff and members of the public. The journey to school is a key part of the school day which accounts for congestion issues across the county. It is an opportunity for parents and pupils to be active, however this is often a missed opportunity. You'll play a key part of promoting that change of behaviour through targeted initiatives.

Key aims are:

• Increase active travel to school
• Improve air quality, and raise awareness
• Collect and analyse mode of travel used to target activities
• Increase the number of schools with an active School Travel Plan
• Increase the number of Walking Buses
• Increase the number of schools taking part in the School Streets campaign

You will help to achieve this through:

• Annual active travel campaigns and initiatives for schools
• Developing, implementing, and supporting Walking Buses

• Developing training and lesson plans for teachers
• Delivering PHSE and workshops for pupils to support campaigns
• Writing and monitoring of School Travel Plans

This role is not classroom based, however it is part of the role to engage directly with students on occasion for example during PHSE, assemblies, events and workshops.

1. Solution circles - offering information, advice and guidance when schools are stuck and struggling to know what to try next with individual children and young people.
2. Restorative Conferences - these are used following a significant incident or where there has been conflict and relationships have broken down
3. Student Ambassador training and support - this involves developing groups of children and young people to lead the way in their schools, supporting a relational and restorative approach
4. A training offer for schools looking to develop their knowledge and practice to make their school more trauma informed, attachment aware and relational in their approach

This job will also involve establishing and leading networks of practitioners from schools, local authorities and external agencies to develop a relational approach of working with children and families.

You'll need to:

• Be an experienced practitioner working with Children and Families, who has a developed level of skill and knowledge around relational and restorative approaches
• Have an understanding of the barriers faced by vulnerable children and young people in education and be able to use this understanding to support schools
• Be a confident communicator who can facilitate meetings and advocate for children and young people

As you will be expected to work in-person across the whole county, it is desirable that you have a full driving licence and use of a car.

Business Support is key to the success of our Children’s Services because our Business Support teams are there, making sure things run smoothly, so that our frontline colleagues can deliver for children and families in the community. The post holder will be predominantly office based, although some home working is arranged on a rota basis dependant on the demands of the service.

Do you want to work in the valued community setting of a library?

In this customer facing role, you will be dealing with customers either face to face, via email or by telephone to help answer day to day library enquiries.

With a high standard of customer service, you will help us to provide a range of services that support the delivery of the library offer, including the provision of IT support, information and activities for all ages. Activities will include children's rhyme times, craft and book-related events. You will help people to access the full range of library resources and will contribute to people’s positive experience of using our service.

The post holder will be based at Cannock Library but may be required to work at other libraries in the district, including Rugeley, Codsall, Perton and Wombourne. The library is open daily Monday to Saturday.

The Market Development Officer role is part of the Council's Care Market Development Team. This team supports the adult social care sector with recruitment and retention, workforce development, as well as information, advice and guidance. We are seeking a dynamic and solution focussed officer, with a passion for improving the care market to join our team on a fixed term contract until the end of May 2026. This job requires a person with a process driven mindset, with strong analytical skills and the ability to shape and deliver evidence based innovative approaches. They will have good ICT skills and the ability to adapt to change, whilst working at pace.
