This role is required to support the demand for Mobilisation and Transition led delivery across Serco’s J&I Business Unit and back fill a retiring member of the Team
The post-holder will reside in the Support Services function and ideally will have some level of custodial and/or immigration knowledge. You will lead, drive and deliver the development of mobilisation and Transition programmes and projects to support the ambition of the J&I BU. There will also be a requirement to support Bids and establish, maintain and manage mission critical customer relationships at a range of levels, to enable the delivery of defined projects whilst fostering staff engagement, safety, quality and cost and to a defined time. Projects will include all areas of the bidding and contract life cycle and may include:
- Bids and rebids
- BU strategic transformation programmes and projects
- Mobilisation, transition, and transformation (MTT).
- Contract exits
Reporting into to the Mobilisation, Transition and Transformation (MTT) Director, you will provide knowledge and experience of the implementation of strategies and policies, development, and deployment of plans relating to bids, MTT, contract exits and strategic transformation projects.
Your strong leadership skills, management capabilities and specialist skills aligned with industry good practice will drive your success to:
- Lead and direct the project across the full life cycle in accordance with Serco’s project methodology
- Deal with ambiguity and find solutions to problems that meet the customers’ needs.
- Lead all required PPT inputs into the bidding process, in accordance with Serco’s business lifecycle, ensuring full compliance with governance, reporting and tracking
- Actively use project controls (plans, governance, reporting, RAID, etc.) to ensure high quality and predictable project outcomes
- Actively manage risks, issues and ensure decisions and escalations arising from project RAID are taken to project boards
- Develop transition activities and identify best practice; to develop a ‘step and repeat’ model for transition activities.
- Monitor project expenditure and report risks relating to budget controls.
What you’ll need to do the role
- First and foremost, you will have operational experience and knowledge of delivery, preferably at management level. Your role will be to bring this experience and knowledge into MTT process and ensure Operations and PMO activities are aligned
- You should be educated to degree level (or equivalent experience) and hold Project Management qualification / certification (e.g. APM, PRINCE2, PMI etc) or demonstrable evidence of managing large complex projects.
- Advanced MS Office Skills, including Project (Project Online), Word, Visio, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Finally, flexibility is a must
- high degree of mobility and ability to travel across the UK as part of this role is required and overnight stays are possible.
