The MPGS provides professional soldiers to meet armed security requirements at Royal Navy, Army, RAF and other MOD bases across the UK Mainland. Our primary role is to counter the terrorist threat posed to military bases within the UK

Our duties include:

Security incident management - Such as suspicious packages, bomb threats, protests, etc.

A Field Service Engineer is required for this growing business located near Newton Abbot.

The Role:

The role is very multi-skilled and will not be limited to Field Service work alone, you will also be required to carry out repairs of customer equipment and plant within our busy workshops.

• You will be working and travelling throughout the South West predominately, occasionally working further afield.
• You will perform maintenance and breakdown cover to a wide variety of hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, along with routine servicing of both hydraulic power packs and compressors.
• A good understanding of computer systems in a fast moving environment would be a distinct advantage.
• Working closely with the Engineering and Technical teams on site to provide support and ensure that both customer and company needs are met as efficiently as possible.

Responsibilities:

• To assemble complex hydraulic & pneumatic systems in workshop and at customer's premises to detailed drawings.
• To test complex systems on schedule to ensure correct operating criteria are met before delivery to customer.
• To run up and test compressors before delivery to customers.
• To install and commission complex hydraulic/pneumatic systems at customers premises (individually/with a team)
• Able to fault find on complex electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems with little information.
• Fault diagnosis, inspection and repair of electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, pumps and motors.
• Manufacture and install pipe work systems for high pressure hydraulic systems and pneumatic ring main systems.
• May be required to attend breakdowns at very short notice, some overtime and weekend working will be required.
• Promoting the company at all times when communicating with customers.
• Carry out repairs both on site and in the workshop in a timely manner.

About the role:

As our Digital, Data and Technology Development Manager, you will oversee an efficient and innovate digital function for the Service, ensuring the effective development, delivery and support of new and enhanced, integrated, modern Digital Systems and Services. As a Subject Matter expert within the development field you will lead the team in providing analysis, design and development using the most appropriate technologies.

Key responsibilities as our Digital, Data and Technology Development Manager:


Leading an effective development team, providing clear strategy for the Service with regards to development with established and new technologies
To challenge the ways in which the Fire Service approaches the designs of new Services taking a continual improvement approach to developing Best Practice and process improvements
Line manage the Development team, ensuring that workloads are allocated and prioritised appropriately, work plans agreed, expectations are clearly communicated, and feedback is regularly provided
Actively lead relationship management key stakeholders ensuring effective, and efficient systems are in place and the required services are delivered on time and in full, by KPI’s and SLA’s
Lead and advise in the maintenance and continuous improvement of development technologies, processes and integration in collaboration with colleagues across the team and the wider Service
To own and continuously improve the Application Development process within DSFRS, adopting industry best practice where appropriate to maximise productivity
To act as a mentor and coach to the Development team, providing experience and SME across the DDAT Department, in order to propagate Best Practice in all areas of Service Development activity.


What we are looking for in our Digital, Data and Technology Development Manager:


Strong team leadership, with the ability to effectively mentor and motivate others
Good knowledge and experience working knowledge of modern development tools and technologies, including but not limited to M365 and JAVA
Knowledge and understanding of project management methodologies to ensure applications are delivered successfully and on time
Ability to work with partner organisations at an operational level to identify and exploit opportunities for collaboration on Service Development
Clear understanding of security and confidentiality of information, whether computer based or otherwise in line with legislation
Proven ability in the development and implementation of work plans to deliver the Development teams strategy for the Service
Excellent organisational and planning skills and the ability to ensure deadlines are meet
High level of communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels
