What is the Role

SSEN Transmission has a fantastic opportunity for Business Assurance Manager to join our Risk & Assurance team. The Risk & Assurance team in SSEN Transmission proactively identify and assess enterprise risk and controls to deliver strategic priorities and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory obligations through coordinated assurance activities.

The main purpose of the role is to provide assurance to the Transmission Executive Committee (TEC) that governance arrangements and business control environments are effective. This is achieved through the identification, approval and delivery of assurance activity and controls testing ensuring business and regulatory compliance is maintained. The job holder will work closely with Transmission leaders and their extended teams to provide internal assurance that processes and procedures are effective to manage their respective business areas and compliance obligations ensuring they meet governance arrangements in relation to legislative and regulatory requirements.

To do this, the job holder will work closely with external auditors, internal audit functions, department leads and subject matter experts to support the four lines of defence model ensuring that the Transmission business operates in a complaint manner through, auditing, risk identification and adherence to regulatory requirements. The role holder will take a substantive role in the annual MD Letter of Assurance process and integrated group assurance programme (IGAP).

The key duties & responsibilities include:

- Effectively scoping, planning and delivering assurance assessments throughout the business, engaging with relevant stakeholders on a risk-based approach to identify areas of concern and therefore reducing risk exposure and enhancing opportunities, capturing these in clear, concise and actionable outputs.

- Developing and delivering regular monitoring of critical business processes to assure on-going effective controls are in place and obligations met, using effective analysis and reporting of relevant data to follow-up on areas of non-conformance with stakeholders.

- Undertaking consultancy or advisory type assignments with business stakeholders, providing guidance on matters such as effective risk management, compliance best practice or obligation applicability.

- Working collaboratively with other members of the Risk & Assurance team and business stakeholders to identify the most effective means to deliver identified improvements, contributing to the delivery of these enhancements and providing regular updates on progress against the agreed schedule.

- Supporting the Senior Risk & Assurance Manager through the identification and provision of the annual assurance prioritisation programme and timely reporting metrics.

SSEN Transmission is looking for a Governance & Assurance Manager to support these critical infrastructure projects and play a key part in achieving Net Zero targets. This is a new position giving someone with subject matter expertise in Governance, Reporting, Assurance and Project Coordination interfaces the chance to really own and shape this position.

The responsibilities of the Governance & Assurance Manager include:

- To set up, embed and maintain the portfolio governance for the EGL projects; ensuring appropriate governance forums, change and decision control processes are established in line as closely as possible with the SSE Large Capital Project (LCP/LCP+) governance framework; and continuous review of Joint Venture Shareholder and Managed Service Agreements to ensure obligations are met.

What you'll be doing;

• Lead and Manage the Commercial Enquiries and Bookings Team (Subject to experience as another role may be available for the right candidate)
  
• Evaluate sales enquiries to the incineration plant both technically and commercially to ensure all loads are received in compliance with site SHE policies and achieve the required level of profitability
  
• Provide other customer services and assist in the revenue administration process for the site
  
• Support the site from a compliance perspective managing the controlled document system (Work Instructions, Risk assessments, Site training requirements etc)
  
• Support the sites Business Continuity Plan
  
• Completing Duty of Care audits

The main function of this role is to implement and effectively manage the company's quality system providing a quality of product and service that satisfies our client's customer needs and expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

• To manage the companies Quality Policy and manuals and comply with ISO 9001, BRCGS v6; managing and carrying out internal audits, inspections to ensure adherence to quality standards
• To define and monitor 'Key' quality indicators and establish improvement plans in line with the companies objectives (business, process, efficiency, systems, cost, and product)
• Monitoring performance by gathering relevant data and producing statistical reports on process data
• Analyse data and metrics to monitor quality performance and identify trends or patterns that may impact product quality
• Structure the company's quality communication, providing training and support, enhancing the workforce's motivation and improvements with in
• Reviewing customer requirements and making sure they are met
• Serve as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries and concerns related to product quality
• Working with purchasing staff to establish quality requirements from external suppliers
• Creating and setting standards for quality in AQL levels and company charge book
• Monitoring of waste and looking at ways to reduce waste and increase efficiency
• Working closely with production and providing training and support to staff members on quality control procedures, techniques, and best practices
• Lead continuous improvement program working with the other departments on initiatives to enhance quality processes, reduce defects, and optimise production efficiency
• Making sure the company is working as effectively as possible to be ahead of competitors by staying current on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements related to quality management in the aluminium manufacturing sector

Qualifications, education and preferred skills:

• Quality assurance: 1 year (preferred)
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
• Proven track record of implementing and managing quality control systems in a manufacturing environment
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
• Certified Quality Manager (CQM) or similar professional certification preferred. ISO 9001, BRC (GS) experience preferred
• Experience with 5S methodologies and process improvement tools
• Proficiency in quality management software and Microsoft office suite
• Kaizen / Total Quality Management or relevant quality qualifications / experience
• Internal and External auditing experience
• Relevant technical skills including previous experience in a fully automated high speed manufacturing process with products manufactured to order (FCMG).
