Job Description for Defence Shift Team Leader (STL):

NNL is where your understanding of reactors fuels the nation. As part of our Fuel Reactor & Reprocessing capability, you'll play a vital role in developing our understanding of nuclear fuels once they reach the end of their lifespan, and helping to inform future reactor operations.

NNL is conducting a major programme of work for one of our customers in heavily shielded cells in the Active Handling Facility (AHF) on Sellafield site. The programme requires NNL to deploy a number of scientific techniques for Post Irradiation Examination (PIE) of nuclear fuel to assist in underpinning reactor safety cases. In order to meet demanding timelines for this data, NNL has implemented a shift rotation pattern.

The PIE (Post Irradiation Examination) Shift Team Leader (STL) will work with scientists and PIE technicians, based at Windscale Active Handling Facility (AHF), for customers such as Rolls-Royce and MoD. Working as part of 3 shift teams, each supervising and managing five PIE shift technicians, the post holder will attend work on a rotating double day shift pattern. The candidate will need to maximise the potential of the shift team, including development of people (behaviourally and technically), and equipment to meet customer and NNL ambitions. They will ensure a clear line of sight of all safety and security responsibilities and the availability of ready for service resource to support delivery. be a member of the AHF emergency response team.

In instances (e.g. planned plant outages) the post holders may be required to revert temporarily to a standard day working pattern, but will move back onto a shift pattern in accordance with the forward programme of work.

The position requires the maintenance of strong working relationships with the immediate team, project management and facility teams. The programme requires team members to work to very high quality standards and demonstrate an enabling, pro-active attitude to resolving issues. In accordance with any nuclear industry positions, individuals will need to demonstrate a high degree of nuclear professionalism, adhering and contributing to a positive health and safety culture. The candidate will maintain strong work relationships with the customer and all touchpoints throughout the organisation, and work closely with the capability managers within the Defence programme.

Main Responsibilities for Defence Shift Team Leader (STL):

• Safety, Security and Quality: The STL is accountable for safety, security and quality performance within their individual shift team and must ensure that; staff have completed all mandatory training required, provision of resource to enable safety / security supervision and safe / secure operations, "Out of Norm" EHSS&Q events must be reported and reviewed on OSHENS within business timescales, staff are aware and adhere of security requirements and protocols.
• Safety & Security Leadership: The STL will be accountable for nuclear safety and security whilst on the shift working pattern within AHF in their role acting as Building Controller/Task Supervisor / First Aider as required.
• Team Performance: The STL will be accountable for team and individual performance, maintenance of technical skills within their shift team including ensuring performance of staff is managed and monitored via Performance and Development Review (PDR) process.

What does a live-in carer do?
As a professional live-in carer in the South West of England, you’ll provide personalised care that enables clients to stay in their own homes. We offer flexible rota patterns to help you balance work and personal life, and we welcome carers with at least six months of professional experience. The Electrical Craft is responsible for carrying out safe, quality, and efficient maintenance/breakdown & project activities within Central Laboratory. They shall ensure all activities are being undertaken in a safe and compliant manner, to meet all requirements of the Nuclear Site Licence (as applicable) and all Regulatory and Legislative purposes.

The working pattern for this role will be 5 double day shifts.

Main Responsibilities for Electrical and Instrumentation Craft (Shifts):

• Responsible for conducting corrective, preventative and scheduled maintenance activities on a range of plant equipment as directed by the Fix It Now Team Leader (FIN TL).
• Responsible for undertaking any electrical associated project work as demand necessitates.
• Responsible for carrying out fault diagnosis on electrical and instrumentation systems to aide efficient rectification of faults.
• Responsible for carrying out safe, effective and controlled isolations of Electrical Plant within their designated area. They shall be responsible for highlighting any issues immediately to the FIN TL.
• Responsible for completing MOVEX job cards in accordance with site standards to ensure that good quality maintenance history is recorded.
• Responsible for supporting the designated facility in the installation, modification and commissioning of rigs and installed equipment, including identifying and assisting in delivery of plant and process improvements.
• Responsible for ensuring that the maintenance/breakdown/project tasks they are involved in are always covered by an appropriate Safe System of Work (SSOW) and complied with.
• Responsible for checking and fully understanding the Electrical Instructions/Proof Tests that they are working to. If unsure at any point during delivery, they shall stop, make safe and highlight any issues to the FIN TL.
• Responsible for ensuring that appropriate workplace standards are always maintained, and the correct tools and equipment are selected for the task and used only as intended.
• Expected to actively participate in team briefs and 'Learning From Experience' (LFE) reviews, taking personal action to resolve any issues or shortfalls in their area. If further resolution is required, they must highlight this to the FIN TL.
• Always comply with company/site standards and expectations of behavior and performance. They must actively challenge others they see not doing so and encourage the behaviors expected.
• Responsible for their individual performance and achieving the objectives set by the FIN TL.
• Responsible for attending all training identified by the Training Department and the FIN TL, ensuring their training is maintained and does not expire.

Essential Criteria for Electrical and Instrumentation Craft (Shifts):

• Holds a time served recognized Electrical Craft Apprenticeship.
• Proven ability to interpret electrical engineering drawings.
• Ability to obtain SC level security clearance (this includes but is not limited to identity, employment, financial and criminal record checks plus 5 years' worth of UK residency).

Desirable Criteria for Electrical and Instrumentation Craft (Shifts):

• Required to become Appointed Nominated Person Electrical.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the Operation & Maintenance requirements associated with their area.

• Foster community relations and public relations initiatives.
• Contribute to the electronic media calendar.
• Prepare presentations and coordinate media activities.
• Manage the image library and produce stakeholder materials

What you'll need to succeed

• Relevant experience working in a communications role
• A strong understanding of the local/regional media and political landscape
• Excellent copywriting skills
• Experience of communicating complex messages to multiple stakeholders

Desirable

• Communications experience in the nuclear sector
