1. To carry and prioritise own patient caseload and other ongoing tasks, allocating appropriate work to technical instructors and students.

6. Attend multi-disciplinary meetings as the hand therapist representative for individual patients, to inform complex discussions, gain a full range of information prior to planning patient centred goals, analyse options for meeting goals and participate in the clinical decision making process and development of comprehensive MDT plans for discharge.

We are looking for an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 Occupational Therapist to work at Perseid Special Schools.

The post holder will provide a specialist occupational therapy service for children and young people with severe and complex learning difficulties in Perseid special schools, in accordance with the Service Level Agreement for Sutton Health and Care Alliance.

Clinical Responsibilities


· To provide a specialist level of clinical skill in paediatric occupational therapy

· Be responsible for a clinical caseload of children and young people attending Perseid special schools as identified by the service specification, managing the defined caseload independently and prioritising own workload to ensure effective service provision

· Use standardised and non-standardised assessment, interview and observation skills to interpret a range of factors relating to the client’s condition, determine needs and effectively set goals and plan intervention including implications for access to education, functional skills at home and the wider community

· Contribute to the development of material that enables clients to understand and self manage their condition, whenever possible, and supports continuation of programmes in the client’s environment (home, school, community)

· Recommend, provide and advise on provision of equipment within the scope of the role and take responsibility for demonstrating and training clients/carers in its usage

· Undertake risk assessments in complex moving and handling situations where appropriate

· Have a full understanding of the workings of any equipment and ensure regular checks are completed to maintain safety

· Communicate complex assessment findings and treatment plans with service users dealing sensitively with distressing or emotional circumstances and being realistic about clients’ and families’ expectations

· Provide written, typed and/or verbal reports to referrers and other agencies involved in client’s care and keep accurate up to date records

· Keep the Team Leader updated with service provision issues and report promptly any untoward incidences, clinical or non-clinical, cooperating with any investigation undertaken

· Actively review efficacy of service delivery and facilitate setting up of new standards or amendment of existing ones, in close liaison with the Service Manager

· Actively contribute to formulating policies for specialist area and proposals for general service changes

· Support the development of the occupational therapy service in the special schools, facilitating development and implementation of effective client/care pathways and outcomes for clients in conjunction with the Team Leader

· Keep up to date with the Department and Trust standards and policies and facilitate dissemination of this knowledge to colleagues

· Develop good working relationships with multidisciplinary teams, outside agencies and voluntary agencies to ensure the professionalism and service delivery are maintained

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Special School Nursing Service for a Band 7 Team Leader to manage the new nursing team at Greenmead School in Wandsworth.

· Act as direct line manager for a team of school staff nurses and health care assistants based within the special school

· Act as the lead clinician for the Children’s Continence Service

· Represent the school nursing team in school when needed and be confident and competent in carrying out clinical skills such as administration of medication and gastrostomy feeds and has experience of working with children with tracheostomies

· Attend annual educational reviews, child in need meetings, team around the child meetings, professional meetings, child protection case conferences and core group meetings, representing the school nursing team and providing key information to education and social services staff and parents

· Comply with infection control policies and procedures in order to minimise and prevent the spread of infection.

· Provide leadership to the special school nursing team in collaboration with senior children’s services managers

· Ensure team compliance with service delivery according to the commissioned service specification

· Responsible for ensuring that key performance indicators are met for both the special school nursing team and the children’s continence service and ensure any discrepancies are fully explained and resolved with children’s services senior managers

· Support senior children’s services managers to monitor the staffing budget for the specified service areas ensuring expenditure remains within the allocated budget

· Responsible for coordinating all absence cover within the team ensuring an adequate and safe service is maintained

· Proactively plan all annual leave, off duties and cover for training etc., in conjunction with the team to ensure that the service needs are met at all times







· Responsible for ensuring that accurate staffing records are maintained via the use of Health Roster e rostering system

· Ensure staff comply with their obligation to collect and record data in electronic records in a timely manner

· Receive and handle any complaints according to SHC and ESTH policy and ensure that all reported incidents for designated areas are fully investigated

The new satellite dialysis unit is based at Croydon University Hospital and is managed by the Renal Unit at St Helier Trust in partnership with Renal Services UK. The unit consists of 28 dialysis stations and has a capacity of 144 patients.

The Renal Unit at St Helier NHS trust has been offering renal replacement therapy for 50 years as a tertiary renal referral Centre; and is one of the largest in England.

We are looking for a motivated and dynamic Nursing Associate with excellent dialysis skill and experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a high standard of care to dialysis patients as well as ensuring an excellent learning environment for patient and staff. With the support of the Clinical Matron and Manager, the new staff will need to provide holistic care to renal dialysis patients and ensure compliance with specific infection and dialysis guidelines.

The post holder must have excellent interpersonal skills and have basic dialysis experience. He/she must also be self-motivated and have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
